ENSEMBLE LA MONICA
(SFZ 1012, 2006) 62'56

Ensemble La Monica;
Christina Sönstevold, traverso flute
Knut Sönstevold, baroque bassoon
Suzanne Persson, theorbo, baroque guitar

The Swedish Ensemble La Monica is unique both through its use of two wind and one plucked instruments, and its sound world. The instruments used are exquisite copies of instruments from the baroque era and create a transparence and almost magic sound which gives a new dimension to the music from this time.

On this CD the ensemble plays music from the 18th and 17th centuries by La Barre, Galliard, Visée, Matteis, Merci, Hotteterre, La Bergerie and Böddecker. The CD is presented in an elegant Digipak.
